STI has over 200 employees supporting and servicing customers in North and South Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Tennessee and Bermuda, with corporate headquarters in Charlotte, North Carolina and regional distribution centers in Richmond, Virginia and Nashville, Tennessee.
Additionally, STI operates 21 branches strategically located throughout our territory for local product and parts support of residential and commercial irrigation, lighting and water feature contractors. Smith Turf also operates outdoor power equipment dealerships under the STI Turf Care Equipment (TCE) banner. The TCE stores carry a complete line of commercial and residential land and landscape maintenance products, and each store has a comprehensive parts and service department as well.
Service is a critical factor when it comes to choosing turf maintenance and irrigation equipment. Our service teams are staffed with experienced, factory-trained and certified professionals and many have been nationally recognized for their outstanding customer support. With the largest mobile service fleet in the industry, we can be there when and where our golf course customers need us. We also offer over 25,000 square feet of state-of-the-art service and repair facilities. STI's 36 member team is dedicated to providing the very best maintenance and irrigation service to our customers.

It started back in 1925 when E.J. Smith founded one of the country's first golf course equipment distributorships. Knowing very little about the fledgling turf care industry, he accompanied the representatives of the Toro Manufacturing Company to the Minikahda Club in Minneapolis, Minnesota to see a revolutionary new approach to mowing the fairways. Rather than trotting out the horses, this time five mowers were mounted in front of a Toro Bull Tractor. It was the very first application of mechanized golf course maintenance equipment and he immediately understood that this would be the future of the industry.
He also knew that for his new business to be successful, it must rely on four basic principles: integrity, innovative products, exceptional service and an absolute commitment to the customer's success. Those four elements became the benchmarks of the company and form the foundation upon which Smith Turf & Irrigation was built.
Four generations later, those timeless principles still steer this customer-focused business as Chairman Emeritus Wayne Smith, Jr., Chairman & CEO Steve Smith and President & COO Anna-Lindsay Yarbrough continue the legacy of E.J. Smith. And while a lot has changed since 1925, thank goodness a lot hasn't.
